Cam Akers Traded to Vikings, Scores First Rushing TD
Vikings Acquire Running Back in Trade with Rams
The Minnesota Vikings have acquired running back Cam Akers from the Los Angeles Rams in a trade that sent a conditional 2026 seventh-round pick to the Rams.
Akers made his Vikings debut against the Carolina Panthers, rushing for 40 yards on five attempts and catching two passes for 11 yards.
The Vikings, who have the league's worst rushing attack this season with 69 yards, needed to bolster their running game. Akers provides them with a talented and experienced back who can help carry the load.
Akers scored his first rushing touchdown of the 2023 NFL season on a 6-yard run against the Panthers.
The trade is a sign that the Vikings are committed to winning now, and they believe that Akers can help them get there.
