Nicholas Mark Ahmed was born on March 15, 1990, in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Nick Ahmed is a professional baseball shortstop for the San Francisco Giants of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played for the Arizona Diamondbacks from 2014 to 2022. Ahmed is a two-time Gold Glove Award winner, having won the award in 2015 and 2019.

Ahmed attended East Longmeadow High School in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, where he played baseball and basketball. He was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 14th round of the 2008 MLB draft, but he did not sign and instead attended the University of Connecticut. At UConn, he played baseball for the Huskies, where he was a two-time All-American.

Ahmed was drafted by the Diamondbacks in the second round of the 2011 MLB draft. He made his MLB debut with the Diamondbacks in 2014 and has been their starting shortstop since 2015. Ahmed is known for his fielding skills, as he has won two Gold Glove Awards. He is also a solid hitter, with a career batting average of .265.

Ahmed is married to Amanda and they have three children: two sons, Jackson and Cole, and one daughter, Bella.
