German Abitur: Essential Information for Students

Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the Abitur, students must not have more than 40 courses with failing grades.

Students may have a maximum of 7 courses with failing grades (below 5 points), with no more than 3 of those courses having grades below 3 points.

Students are prepared for the Abitur through a rigorous curriculum that includes a wide range of subjects.

The Abitur exam consists of written and oral components. The written exam lasts for 20-30 minutes, with a 30-minute preparation period.

The Abitur commonly referred to as "Abi" is a qualification that is recognized in Germany and many other countries.
