Nuno Mendes Injury Update: PSG Defender Ruled Out for Four Months

Subheadline: Mendes Suffers Hamstring Injury in Champions League Draw

Paris Saint-Germain have suffered a significant blow with the news that defender Nuno Mendes has been ruled out for four months with a hamstring injury. The Portuguese international sustained the injury during PSG's 1-1 UEFA Champions League Matchday 3 draw with Benfica on Wednesday.

According to a statement from the club, Mendes underwent medical examinations on Thursday which revealed the extent of the injury. The 20-year-old is expected to be sidelined for approximately four months, dealing a major setback to PSG's hopes of retaining both the Ligue 1 and Champions League titles this season.

Mendes has been a key player for PSG since joining the club from Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2021. He has made 41 appearances for the French giants, scoring four goals and providing nine assists. His attacking prowess and defensive solidity have made him a valuable asset to Christophe Galtier's side.

The injury to Mendes is a major concern for PSG, who are already without defender Presnel Kimpembe due to injury. Galtier will now have to find a suitable replacement for Mendes, with Juan Bernat and Nordi Mukiele the most likely candidates to step into the left-back role.

PSG will be hoping Mendes can make a full recovery in time for the second half of the season, where they will be aiming to challenge for major honors on multiple fronts.
