Bayern Munich Dominate in UEFA Champions League Opener

Coman, Goretzka, and Tolisso Seal 4-0 Victory

Bayern Munich kicked off their UEFA Champions League campaign with a resounding 4-0 victory over Atletico Madrid on Wednesday. Kingsley Coman, Leon Goretzka, and Corentin Tolisso were on target for the German champions, who thoroughly outplayed their Spanish opponents.

Coman opened the scoring in the 28th minute, pouncing on a loose ball in the penalty area to slot home. Goretzka doubled Bayern's lead just before halftime with a powerful header from a Joshua Kimmich cross.

Tolisso put the game to bed in the 66th minute with a superb long-range strike, leaving Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak with no chance. The visitors were reduced to 10 men late in the match when Felipe was sent off for a second yellow card, and Bayern took full advantage.

Atletico Madrid Reach Champions League Final Despite Bayern Defeat

Despite the heavy defeat, Atletico Madrid secured their place in the UEFA Champions League final thanks to a dramatic 2-1 victory at Bayern Munich in the second leg of their semifinal. Alvaro Morata and Antoine Griezmann scored for the Spanish side, while Robert Lewandowski netted for Bayern.

The aggregate score was tied 2-2 after the first leg, so the away goals rule came into play. Atletico Madrid's victory means they will face Manchester United in the final in Milan on May 29.
